First Time at IIFES

Introducing IIFES in a Q&A style for first-time visitors!

What sort of exhibition is IIFES?

Since 2013, the “System Control Fair (SCF),” a leading general exhibition for automation in Japan, and the “Measurement and Control Show,” one of Japan’s largest exhibition focused on measurement and control, have been held simultaneously at the same venue. In 2015, the size of the venue was expanded. In 2017, the event was held jointly and the themes of the exhibitions were unified. This year in 2019, the event has been evolved even further to become a single exhibition, which is reflected in the new name.
Automation, measurement and control form the trinity of technologies that make up the core of the industrial world. They control and move things, measure movements and quantities, and then likewise control those measurements. IIFES aims to heighten the relevance of the messages that the organizers are sending. The exhibition also presents an opportunity for the most advanced technologies and information from the industrial world to gather in one place, and forming a central part of the industrial world are the electrical machinery, measurement and control industries. As such, IIFES aims to spread information across the globe on MONODZUKURI that fits diversifying social environments, while also striving to further enhance and develop the exhibition.

What does IIFES stand for?

IIFES (pronounced I-I-FES), the exhibition’s official name, is short for Innovative Industry Fair for E x E Solutions.
“Innovative Industry Fair” indicates that the industrial exhibition is brimming with innovation and creativity. The E’s in “E x E Solutions” represent words related to electrical machinery, measurement, control and manufacturing, such as electrical, electronic, and engineering. The “x” between the E’s signifies synergy produced by the technologies in related fields represented by the E’s. Finally, “Solutions” indicates the measures that can be acquired at the exhibition to lead to the creation of new values.
